With the coronavirus pandemic continuing to develop daily, UK garage owners are being urged to heed advice from the Government to tackle the spread of Covid-19 head on.

The Prime Minister is leading daily news conferences on the topic, and as the situation is evolving at rapid pace, SMEs, such as garages, have already been guaranteed support packages as part of the 2020 Budget.

In the meantime, garage owners can take immediate action to help share awareness and advice on how to prevent the coronavirus spreading further. For example, Government posters can be downloaded here, which can then be placed around workshops.

With many garages across the country sending messages of ‘business as usual’, car comparison website, AutoAdvisor.co.uk, is keen to offer its full support during these testing times.

Alex Taylor, AutoAdvisor.co.uk founder, said: “It’s been an extremely positive response from the entire industry, and we’re seeing many garage owners going above and beyond to help their local community.

“Understandably, many garages are eager to remain open, and while this is important, it’s essential that the appropriate procedures are in place such as encouraging employees to wash their hands frequently for 20 seconds, and regularly cleaning and disinfecting objects and surfaces.”

Employees who become unwell or are particularly vulnerable to the virus are being strongly advised to stay at home to reduce the spread of the coronavirus. Those who do follow advice will be eligible for statutory sick pay (SSP) from the first day of their absence.
