PACT connectivityTrading through the PACT initiative – the process of placing enquiries and ordering parts between a buyer (motor factor / distributor) and components supplier online – saves each business up to 50pence (€0.67) every time an enquiry and order is placed.

More than 40million enquiries and orders were placed from PACT-enabled motor factors to 80 PACT-enabled automotive suppliers in 2014. Twice as many enquiries were made than orders and, if these enquiries were placed via the telephone or fax, it would add considerable cost and time for a motor factor and supplier, significantly reducing their efficiency.

PACT connectivity allows a motor factor to check the price of a part, its availability and place orders, while the garage customer stays on the telephone at the same time. This enhances a motor factor’s customer service experience and all but eradicates lost sales.

PACT also automates the exchange of essential paper work such as order acknowledgements, dispatch notes and invoices, further reducing the possibility of incorrect parts supply.

There are more than 25,000 business relationships set-up between PACT-enabled motor factors and automotive suppliers.

Peter Hollowood, director of TecCom UK Ltd, said: “Across the year, these are some serious savings for motor factors and suppliers and are a key example of how PACT electronic trading can elevate businesses above the competition. These savings can easily be replicated in the commercial vehicle parts aftermarket and we’ll be taking this message to the CV industry in 2015.”
